The Trials and Tribulations Of Michael Collinson
In: RC Cars
27 Aug 2009OK, here it is – my fully converted Mini-T. What started out as a bog standard Mini-T (with some alloy upgrades), has finally been converted into a full 1/16 buggy, thanks, to Exotek and their MXB Pro chassis kit. It’s cost me more than I would like, but now it’s done, I’m so happy with it. At it’s heart, it has a Tekin Mini Rage ESC and brushless motor and a Trakpower 11.v 3s Lipo battery. I reckon she’s good for 50mph+.

Yeah it is extremely fast for it’s size and so diffferent to how it was when I first bought it (have a look at the pics). I’ve got a few other RC cars, more 1/8 scale which are much bigger and I can race them at my local track. This one’s a lot more suited to the road though really. Great fun though!!

1/8th scale? Now that’s big for an RC car… almost comparable to a smartcar. Hmm.. you modded it yourself? Nice skills!

Lol, yeah they are big but you can get 1/5 scale too which are huge. Thanks for the nice comments, I did mod it myself – cost me a fortune but hey, everyone needs a hobby!!

Nice. Where did you buy the parts for your r/c car?

All over the place really. I live in the UK, but I bought a lot of parts off Ebay and also a site called rcmodelimports.com. In the US, there is a nice online store called TheToyz.com which sell loads of parts for all different rc cars. The conversion is based on an extended carbon chassis from Exotek Racing (exotekracing.com).
